The American Red Cross Blood Drives for the Month of July:

Thursday, July 24: 1 - p.m. - 7 p.m. - will be held on the  upper level near Sears.

Saturday, July 26:  9 a.m. - 3 p.m.

7/21/2008 - 7/25/2008    IDEA'S Weekly Summer Camps   

Down by the Ocean:  throughout the week, the children will learn and participate in hands-on activities that involve the ocean, beach, ocean animals, tides, sand, and the island of Hawaii.  The children will make a beach scene out of sand and ocean life bowl with plants and animals, fishy art projects, play beach bingo, water balloon toss, create sandy seashell frames, build a volcanic eruption, listen to beach and Hawaiian music, tie-dye, make lei necklaces and limbo.  At the end of the week, the children will participate in their own luau party on the beach.  Throughout the week, they will also be on the look out for pirates and will participate in a treasure hunt.

Summer Camps are for children age 5 - 11.

Daily Schedule: Morning Session: 9 a.m. - Noon.  Bring your own lunch: Noon to 1 p.m.  Afternoon Session:  1 - 3 p.m.

7/28/2008 - 8/1/2008    IDEA'S Weekly Summer Camp   

Enjoying the Summer with Eric Carle:  Every child loves the author, Eric Carle.  During this class, children will receive the opportunity to read lots of Eric Carle's stories, learn about this famous author, and complete a variety of activities related to the stories they have read.  Some of Eric Carle's stories will include:  The Very Hungry Caterpillar; The Tiny Seed; Little Cloud; Brown Bear, Brown Bear What do you See?; Does a Kangaroo Have a Mother, Too? and Pancakes, Pancakes.  A variety of activities will include art, dramatic play, making nutritious snacks, and fine motor skills.

Summer Camps are for children age 5 - 11.

8/4/2008 - 8/8/2008    IDEA'S Weekly Summer Camp   

Perfect Penguins:  The students will learn about the different kinds of penguins and create crafts to go along with the theme.  They will enjoy various stories that pertain to penguins and will create some of their own paperback books.  During the class, the children will have the opportunity to "become a penguin" by learning how the penguins' blubber protects them, and how they care for their eggs during the cold, harsh winter months.  The children will make penguins; complete Cool Penguins on Ice, and Penguin's Puzzle Grids, play "Roll a Penguin Dice" game, learn silly penguin poems and songs.  At the end of the week, the children will have a "Penguin Party" to celebrate our penguin friends.  At our penguin celebration, they will enjoy watching the move, March of the Penguins to wrap-up our fun-filled, yet educational week about penguins.

8/11/2008 - 8/15/2008    IDEA'S Weekly Summer Camp   

All About Apples:  The students will learn about the different types of apples and create crafts to go along with the theme.  They will enjoy various stories that pertain to apples and fall and will create some of their own paperback books.  During the class, the children will create an apple pencil holder, tear paper apple, enjoy apple stamping and patterning, compete in an apple relay, make applesauce, learn about Johnny Appleseed and apple history.  At the end of the week, there will be an apple tasting party with apple foods (various kinds of apples, cinnamon applesauce, plain applesauce, apple butter, apple juice, apple cider and apple chips.

8/12/2008    American Red Cross Blood Drive    1 p.m. - 7 p.m.

Join The American Red Cross and Forever Broadcasting for their Blood Drive on Tuesday, August 12.  Their goal is 100 units!!  Remember, one pint of blood saves three lives!!

8/18/2008 - 8/22/2008    IDEA'S Weekly Summer Camp   

All About Animals and Bugs:  During this week, the children will learn and participate in a variety of activities that deal with the different kinds of animals and bugs.  They will use their imaginations by visiting a zoo, going on a jungle safari, venturing into the forest, and staying a day down on the farm.  The children will also enjoy various stories and participate in activities that include playing barrel of monkeys, pin the tail on the zebra, lacing beads for safari necklaces, making an animal diorama out of play dough, building styrofoam bugs and create animal drawings.  At the end of the week, the children will celebrate these wonderful animals by watching The Lion King and Bambi and having an animal theme celebration.
